A 13-year-old girl narrowly escaped an alleged ritual killing attempt in Aburi-Kitase, Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Friday evening when the girl was abducted by four unidentified men while walking to buy food. The abductors reportedly tied her hands and legs and prepared to harm her.
However, the timely intervention of a good Samaritan, who fired warning shots, scared off the assailants and prevented the tragedy.
The incident has sparked concerns about rising insecurity in the area. The Assembly Member for the Kitase Electoral Area, Frank Amankwah, blamed the malfunctioning streetlights along the Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge stretch, which he says has created an environment conducive to criminal activities.
Amankwah called on the Inspector General of Police to intensify security measures in the area and address the issue of malfunctioning streetlights.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing communities across the country.
