The Ghana Education Service (GES) has begun the 2024 school selection process for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

The process, which started on Thursday, August 28, will continue until September 4, 2024.

According to a statement signed by Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director of the Schools and Instruction Division, parents and guardians are encouraged to actively participate in the selection exercise to ensure a smooth placement process for their wards.

This year’s process allows the total of 570,461 candidates who sat for the BECE to choose from a range of Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Additionally, candidates will have the opportunity to select STEM subjects, including biomedical science, engineering science, and agriculture.

To ensure transparency and adherence to guidelines, officials from the GES headquarters will oversee the selection exercise nationwide. Regional Directors of Education have been instructed to inform stakeholders about the selection process dates.

In a new development, candidates will be able to confirm their school choices by texting a short code, details of which will be provided later.

Two phone lines have been provided for parents, students, and stakeholders to resolve any challenges they may encounter during the selection process.
