The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Adam Mohammed, for his suspected involvement in the illegal trade of narcotic drugs.

Mohammed was apprehended by officers from the Airport District Police Command during a targeted operation at Aboabo No. 1 on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, May 14, the Public Relations Officer of the regional command, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, detailed the items seized during a search of the suspect’s premises. The police recovered:

  • 35 packs of 250mg Tramadol
  • 28 packs of 120mg Tramadol
  • 11 packs of 225mg Tramadol
  • Around 50 empty cartons believed to be used for packaging and transporting the drugs

Additionally, police found and secured an amount of GHS 66,950, suspected to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.

DSP Ahianyo confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

“The individual we have in custody is known to be involved in the distribution of narcotic substances,” he said. “We are committed to tackling drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of our communities.”

The Ashanti Regional Police Command reiterated its dedication to fighting illegal drug activity and safeguarding lives and property.
