Thousands of people filled the seats at Angel Stadium Sunday to participate in the Harvest Crusade.
There were so many people at the event, that the fire marshal forced the group to close the doors.
“Despite this, people outside stayed and joined the worship,” said Harvest Church Pastor, Greg Laurie.
Laurie says the real focus of the crusade was proclaiming the gospel.
“When the invitation was given, 5,000 people made a profession of faith,” said Laurie. “3,500 did it in person, walking down to the field. Another 1,500 prayed that prayer online.”
On top of the 50,000 people in the stands and the thousands outside the stadium, another 200,000 people watched the crusade online.
“There was such an energy, as if with one voice,” said Laurie. “It was incredible. We’re just giving God the glory for what he did.”
Laurie says when they do these events, people of every background attend and come to Christ.
“It seems like a cross-section of the world attending these crusades.”
This crusade is said to be one the greatest the church has hosted in its 35-year history.
