Saddick Adams, a former striker for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has expressed his concerns about head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum’s abilities following the team’s recent performance.

Adams noted that Ogum has a background as a professional teacher, specifically in Physical Education (PE), which he believes affects his coaching style.

He argued that coaches with teaching backgrounds often expect excessive respect from players due to their credentials, which can hinder team dynamics.

In a video posted by National TV GH on YouTube, Adams advised Ogum to consider returning to teaching, given the struggles Kotoko has faced in recent matches. “I thought Prosper Ogum was a good coach, but he should focus on lecturing and stop coaching. The players are professionals and shouldn’t be treated like children,” he stated.

Adams further criticized coaches who prioritize respect off the pitch over effective coaching on the field, contrasting Ogum’s approach with that of other coaches like coach Duncan, who he believes have a more balanced attitude.

Saddick Adams left Kotoko in May 2018 after helping the team secure the MTN FA Cup in 2017. Ogum has recently faced scrutiny as Kotoko suffered a defeat to Bechem United in Match Week 10 of the Ghana Premier League.

Currently, the team sits sixth in the league table with 15 points, trailing leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by five points.
