Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has assured the public that the Ghana Police Service will maintain neutrality and professionalism during the upcoming December 7 elections.
He emphasized that the police have no partisan interests in the election and will enforce the law impartially.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new state-of-the-art police station in Akyem Muoso, Eastern Region, the IGP warned potential troublemakers to stay away, stating that the police will not tolerate any actions that threaten the country’s peace before, during, or after the elections.
“The Ghana Police Service is dedicated to the country and its citizens. We do not take sides in elections; our role is to serve and protect the people. Therefore, we will remain neutral and professional throughout the electoral process,” he stated.
Dr. Dampare urged Ghanaians to refrain from allowing themselves to be used to undermine national security. “Every Ghanaian has a part to play in ensuring the safety of our country. While the police will fulfill our duty to protect the public, we encourage everyone to resist being used for violence or creating unrest in their communities.”
The IGP, accompanied by members of the Police Management Board, also inaugurated two additional police stations in Moseaso and Abekoase, bringing the total number of new stations opened that day to three.
Community leaders expressed their gratitude for the police administration’s efforts to improve the image of the police and combat crime in the country.
