Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr will miss the upcoming Champions League fixture against Liverpool after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian played the entire 3-0 La Liga victory over Leganes on Sunday, but will now be sidelined as Madrid prepares to face the table-topping Liverpool at Anfield.
Real Madrid announced a 19-man traveling squad for the match, and Vinicius Jr was excluded due to an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. According to reports from the Spanish newspaper Marca, he could be out for approximately three weeks, although the club has not commented on the full extent of the injury.
After the club’s announcement, Vinicius Jr shared his thoughts on X, writing, “Crazy calendar. Time to recover.”
Liverpool may also be missing defender Trent Alexander-Arnold for the clash, as he missed Sunday’s 3-2 win against Southampton due to a hamstring injury sustained before the international break.
