The Electoral Commission (EC) has reported a shortage of Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers in five constituencies within the Volta Region.
The affected constituencies are Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West. To resolve the issue, the EC has moved quickly to arrange for the printing of additional ballots at Acts Commercials Printing House in Accra.
In an official letter to representatives of all presidential candidates, the EC detailed its plan to address the shortfall and confirmed that the additional ballots will be printed and distributed on time for the election. The printing will take place in Accra to ensure there are no disruptions to the electoral process.
To ensure transparency, the EC has invited all political parties and independent presidential candidates to send two representatives each to observe the printing process. This oversight will allow for independent verification that the ballots are printed correctly and in compliance with electoral regulations.
The observation is scheduled for Friday, November 29, at 10:00 AM. Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, reassured the public that the Commission is taking all necessary steps to ensure the election remains free, fair, and credible.
Mr. Tettey emphasized the EC’s commitment to addressing the ballot shortage quickly and ensuring the election process proceeds smoothly without further issues.
