Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith has suggested that the club should consider signing Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey.
While acknowledging Partey’s recent strong performance against Sporting CP, Smith expressed concerns about the Ghanaian’s declining athleticism. He believes that Reijnders could offer a more dynamic and energetic presence in midfield.
“I think Arteta is looking at Tijjani Reijnders because players like Thomas Partey don’t seem capable of what they used to do athletically and can’t cover the pitch as they once did,” Smith stated.
Smith emphasized Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of squad improvement, suggesting that the club should continue to invest in top talent, even if it means replacing a key player like Partey.
However, there has been no official confirmation of Arsenal’s interest in Reijnders, and Partey’s future at the club remains uncertain.
