Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has called on Ghanaians to unite in support of the newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by President John Dramani Mahama.
Following Mahama’s victory in the 2024 general elections, which marked his return to the presidency after eight years in opposition, Gyan took to social media to extend his congratulations to the new government.
He urged the nation to prioritize the collective good over partisan politics.
“Let’s support the government, regardless of which party is in power. When businesses mark up prices excessively, it hurts the entire nation,” Gyan said, emphasizing the need for shared responsibility in overcoming the country’s challenges.
The football icon stressed the importance of unity and collaboration, urging citizens to put aside political differences and focus on the nation’s progress. “Ghana has made its decision. Let’s focus on supporting the government, whether or not our party is in power,” he added.
Gyan also highlighted the role of attitudinal change in achieving national development. “We need to change our mindset and be supportive of the new government. Let’s congratulate them and show our backing,” he said.
He further called on Ghanaians to avoid sabotaging the government and instead contribute positively to the country’s growth. “As loyal citizens of Ghana, we must support the NDC, not undermine them,” Gyan concluded.
