John Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to individuals considering roles in his upcoming administration, advising them to stay in the private sector if they are not prepared to work hard.

During a courtesy visit by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, and his delegation on Thursday, December 12, Mahama emphasized that Ghanaians expect efficient, accountable leadership.

He stressed that there would be no room for complacency or lack of productivity in his government.

“Ghanaians may be slow to react, but when they’ve had enough, they will hold you accountable,” Mahama said. “I urge those aspiring to work with the new government to understand that it will not be easy or business as usual. It will require hard work.”

He further stated, “If you are not ready to work hard and make sacrifices for Ghana, then it is better to remain in the private sector.”

Mahama was officially declared the winner of the 2024 general elections by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday, December 9.
