The Vineyard Church in Duluth, Minnesota, along with its parent organization, Vineyard USA, and the parents of a convicted child sex abuser, are facing nine civil lawsuits.
These lawsuits stem from the actions of Jackson Gatlin, a former youth pastor at the church, who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a minor.
The lawsuits allege that the church and its leadership, including Gatlin’s parents, Michael and Brenda Gatlin, knew or should have known about the abuse but failed to take appropriate action.
While the church acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and expressed support for the victims, they stated that they welcome the lawsuits as a means of seeking justice for those harmed.
This case highlights the importance of churches and other organizations taking proactive measures to prevent child sexual abuse and ensure the safety and well-being of children within their communities.
