A violent confrontation between two taxi drivers in Agona Swedru, Central Region, has ended in tragedy, with one driver fatally injuring his colleague.
The victim, 26-year-old Evans Owusu, was struck in the head with a wheel spanner by fellow driver Alex Amihere, following an argument that quickly escalated into violence.
The incident took place at their workplace in the Agona West Municipality. According to reports, the dispute between the two drivers intensified, leading to Amihere using the wheel spanner as a weapon. Evans Owusu suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to several hospitals, including the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where he later died from his wounds.
Evans’ father, Stephen Owusu, expressed his grief and frustration, recounting the unsuccessful attempts to save his son. He has called on the Ghana Police Service to ensure that justice is served, with the suspect currently in custody.
Lydia Andoh, the victim’s sister-in-law, revealed that the fatal blow caused irreversible brain damage. This tragic event has left the community in shock, with investigations ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the deadly altercation.
