A shocking incident unfolded in Orozo, a border community between the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State, Nigeria, on Sunday when Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, a man reportedly a gospel musician, was arrested for possessing a decapitated human head.

The event occurred during a thanksgiving service at a local church, marking the conclusion of a seven-day fasting period. Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, shared that Ajayi’s suspicious actions were first noticed by church member Brother Victor. Around 11 a.m., during the final prayers, Victor spotted Ajayi near a river, carrying a black nylon bag.

Victor, feeling uneasy about Ajayi’s behavior, informed another church member, Brother Amos, and the two approached Ajayi, who was seated at the back of the church. Upon their approach, Ajayi quickly tossed the bag into the river, claiming it contained nothing. His hasty actions only heightened their suspicion, prompting them to keep a close eye on him.

Soon after, two motorcyclists arrived, one of whom revealed that he had transported Ajayi from Loko-Tiye, a nearby town, and noticed blood dripping from the bag. The motorcyclists, along with the church members, then confronted Ajayi.

When asked to retrieve the bag from the river, Ajayi denied any wrongdoing and attempted to flee. He was pursued by the group into a nearby bush, where a tense chase ensued before they managed to catch him.

“It took quite a bit of effort for the four men to catch him,” Umaru explained. “The chase ended in a bushy area, which is why the video of his arrest appears to have been filmed in a farm-like setting.”

Once the bag was recovered, its gruesome contents were revealed: a severed human head. The victim was later identified as Ajayi’s girlfriend.

Ajayi, who had sustained injuries while trying to escape, confessed to the murder. He explained that the altercation began over an argument about her phone. When she attacked him with a knife, he retaliated, stabbing her in the neck, which led to her death.

“He admitted to stabbing her in the neck during the fight,” Umaru recounted.

A viral video taken after the arrest shows Ajayi being interrogated by a police officer. When asked why he was carrying the severed head, Ajayi claimed that “a woman” had instructed him to deliver it to her. However, the identity of this woman and her involvement in the crime remain unclear.

Police arrived shortly after Ajayi’s capture, took him into custody, and transported both him and the severed head in a police van. “The police had to carry him because he was lying down, almost unconscious from his injuries,” Umaru added.
