Dr. Frank Amoakohene

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 10 individuals for regional ministerial positions, including Dr. Frank Amoakohene as the Ashanti Regional Minister.

A formal request has been made to Parliament for the vetting and confirmation of these nominees, marking an important step in reinforcing regional governance and development across the country.

The full list of nominees includes:

  • Northern: Adolf John
  • Oti: John Kwadwo Gyapong
  • Volta: James Gunu
  • Eastern: Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjel Awatey
  • North-East: Ibrahim Tia
  • Ashanti: Dr. Frank Amoakohene
  • Upper East: Akamugri Donatus Atanga
  • Ahafo: Charity Gardiner
  • Savannah: Salisu Bi-Awuribe
  • Greater Accra: Linda Ocloo, MP

The nominations are part of President Mahama’s broader commitment to strengthening governance and promoting development at the regional level. Six additional regional appointments are still pending.

Security Reforms on the Horizon

In addition to the regional appointments, President Mahama has emphasized his administration’s dedication to addressing security challenges. In response to the ongoing conflict in Bawku, he announced plans to appoint key security officials, including the Ministers for Defence and Interior, as well as a National Security Co-ordinator, by the end of the week.

The President also reaffirmed his resolve to stabilize the conflict-affected Kusaug Traditional Area, underscoring the government’s commitment to peace and security across the nation.
