A horrific incident occurred in Antwirifo, Dormaa Central Municipality, where a man fatally attacked his six-year-old son before being fatally shot by an immigration officer.
Emmanuel Atta, 36, a farmer who had recently returned from Libya, reportedly experienced a mental breakdown, leading to the tragic events.
The incident began when Emmanuel, while requesting rice from his wife, Stella, inexplicably began destroying the cooking pot while the meal was being prepared.
Disturbed by his behavior, Stella fled the home with their four children. However, Emmanuel pursued them. In a fit of rage, he attacked his son, Jonathan, with a machete, causing fatal injuries.
Following the attack, Emmanuel fled the scene and went into hiding within the community.
An immigration officer attempted to apprehend Emmanuel. However, a struggle ensued, and during the altercation, the officer’s firearm discharged, fatally wounding Emmanuel in the head.
Both Emmanuel and his son, Jonathan, were pronounced dead at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital.
Investigations into this tragic incident are ongoing.
