The Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has officially abandoned his appeal against the acquittal of Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson by the Court of Appeal.

Dr. Forson had been facing trial at the Accra High Court on charges related to causing a financial loss of €2 million in an ambulance purchase deal.

However, on July 30, 2024, the Court of Appeal upheld Forson’s submission of no case, leading to his acquittal and discharge.

In a notice filed at the Supreme Court on January 24, 2025, the Attorney-General confirmed that the government would not pursue the appeal any further.

The notice read, “The Republic does not intend further to prosecute the appeal and abandons all further proceedings with respect to this matter as of the date of this notice.”
