Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the owner of Nsoatreman FC, has been arrested by the Bono Regional Police in connection with violent clashes during a Ghana Premier League match.
The former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations and ex-MP for Sunyani West, Baffour Awuah is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder after the tragic events unfolded on Sunday during a fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nana Kronmansah Park.
The altercation, involving players and officials, led to the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as “Pooley.”
Frimpong was fatally stabbed by unknown attackers, and Baffour Awuah is accused of inciting the violence.
In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely suspended Nana Kronmansah Park and will hold an emergency meeting with key stakeholders to address the situation.
The investigation is being led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Lydia Donkor, as efforts intensify to bring those responsible to justice.
