The Ghana Police have confirmed the arrest of Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwaa, better known as Akosua China, as the prime suspect in the murder of Nana Pooley, an ardent Asante Kotoko supporter.

The arrest was officially announced in a statement on Thursday, February 6, 2025, with Akosua China now in police custody.

The investigation into Pooley’s untimely death is ongoing, but details surrounding Akosua’s involvement remain scarce. Sources suggest that she may have had a direct role in the events leading to Pooley’s tragic passing.

This arrest brings the total number of people detained in connection with the case to six.

The murder, which took place at Nana Koramansah Park, has shocked the football community in Ghana and prompted urgent calls for justice, as well as stronger security at match venues.

In response to the incident, both Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak have submitted a joint proposal to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) urging for enhanced security measures to prevent future tragedies.

The police have vowed to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, ensuring that those responsible for Pooley’s death are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko supporters continue to mourn the loss of their devoted fan, with some even calling for a boycott of the Ghana Premier League until justice is served.
