Attorney-General tasked with investigating 2,417 corruption cases uncovered by the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee
President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to swiftly initiate investigations into corruption cases highlighted in the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) report.
The directive was issued on Monday as President Mahama officially received the report at Jubilee House. The document, which details 2,417 corruption-related complaints, was presented by North Tongu MP and ORAL Chairman, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, along with committee members.
President Mahama praised the committee’s work, calling the report a significant milestone in Ghana’s ongoing fight against corruption. He assured the public that immediate and impartial action would be taken, stating, “I have handed the report to the A-G to begin investigations into the cases. If prosecution is needed, it will be pursued without fear or favor. Every pesewa recovered will be reinvested into national development.”
The President emphasized that funds recovered through this operation will be reinvested into crucial sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social development, reiterating Ghana’s firm commitment to eradicating corruption. “Ghana is no longer a ground for corruption,” he declared.
Speaking on the importance of the findings, Mahama described the report as both a revelation and a beacon of hope. “The extent of the financial leakages uncovered is alarming. These are resources that should have been advancing our nation. However, the report also shows that through collective effort, we can recover what has been lost and prevent future economic sabotage,” he said.
The ORAL report marks a critical step in Ghana’s efforts to recover looted state assets and strengthen accountability within the country.
