Kumasi, Ashanti Region – DCOP Frank Abrokwa, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Accra.
This transfer, initiated by the Police administration, stems from his handling of security during the Ashanti Regional Council of State election held at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
The election, which began peacefully, descended into chaos when alleged NDC-affiliated individuals from Obuasi disrupted the vote counting process. Seeing their candidate trailing Nana Nkansah Boadu, the group allegedly vandalized electoral materials.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Abrokwa, was criticized for their inability to effectively manage the situation. His transfer letter was reportedly issued immediately following the incident.
