President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized that government appointments are not only about gaining recognition, but also about fulfilling the responsibility to deliver results for the people.
Speaking to the Ghanaian community in Ethiopia on Monday, February 17, Mahama addressed the growing interest in government appointments, highlighting that such roles come with significant responsibilities and high expectations.
“Those of us in leadership must lead by example and be prepared to be held accountable. When you accept to serve in the public sector, you must be ready to answer to the people who put you in that position,” Mahama stated. “You serve at their pleasure, and the green letter comes with a great deal of responsibility and expectation. While we hold those before us accountable, we must also remember that we, too, will be held accountable.”
Mahama also touched on his priorities, including constitutional amendments, stabilizing the economy, and creating job opportunities for the youth. He expressed determination to lay the groundwork for these objectives, even if they cannot be fully achieved during his tenure.
“The task ahead of us is amending the constitution, holding people accountable for the public trust, stabilizing the economy, and creating opportunities for our young people. We may not complete the process, but I am committed to laying the foundation and putting Ghana on the right track,” he affirmed.
