Gregory Afoko, a prime suspect in the 2015 murder of Adams Mahama, the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been granted bail after spending nearly ten years in detention.
The High Court in Accra set Afoko’s bail at GH₵500,000 with two sureties, marking a significant milestone in a case that has spanned almost a decade.
Afoko, who was arrested in 2015, is accused of conspiring with others to carry out the acid attack that led to Mahama’s death outside his Bolgatanga home.
While this decision marks progress in his defense, the trial is still ongoing, with the state continuing its prosecution.
