Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board and the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), is being investigated by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for financial activities during his time at GIIF.

His lawyer, Ken Kuranchie, shared that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at home on Sunday morning when a group of men in three pickup trucks arrived and informed him that the NIB required his presence.

He voluntarily accompanied them to the NIB headquarters and was later taken to their office in Kawukudi, Accra.

Kuranchie revealed that the investigation concerns financial approvals made during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s tenure as Board Chairman at GIIF.

“The interrogation has concluded, and the NIB has stated that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi will remain in custody until Monday. However, additional developments could occur later, and his legal team is on-site, awaiting further updates.

“We are still here, monitoring the situation, to see if anything can be done. He hasn’t been moved to where he’ll spend the night yet. We’re just waiting to see what happens next,” Kuranchie said.
