A 33-year-old mobile money vendor, Augustine Mensah, has been shot and killed by unknown assailants in Manso-Asamang, located in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after Mensah was called by a customer for a transaction following his business hours. While returning home, he was attacked and shot. A passerby discovered Mensah and rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
This tragic event follows the recent killing of Patricia Nimako, a young mobile money vendor, who was shot dead at her shop in Krofrom, Kumasi, two weeks prior.
Nimako was laid to rest on February 27, 2025, but no arrests have been made in connection with her death.
The shooting at Manso-Asamang has caused shock and grief among residents. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Stephen Agyei, a community leader, confirmed the incident, stating that Mensah’s body has been deposited at St. Martin’s Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
