Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, is set to present the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament today.

This marks the first significant economic plan under the Mahama administration since it took office.

The highly anticipated budget is expected to lay out essential policy directions and economic strategies aimed at stabilizing the economy, fostering growth, and addressing the country’s fiscal challenges.

A key feature of the budget is the expected removal of several controversial taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), the COVID-19 Health Levy, and the Betting Tax. These levies, which were introduced by the previous administration, faced significant criticism for burdening Ghanaians financially.

The Mahama administration has promised to reduce the tax burden on individuals and businesses while putting in place measures to stimulate economic recovery. The removal of these taxes is anticipated to offer relief to mobile money users, businesses, and individuals involved in online betting.

In addition to tax policy changes, the budget is expected to focus on creating jobs, boosting infrastructure development, and implementing social interventions to enhance the well-being of Ghanaians.
