Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has expressed gratitude to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his show of support following what he described as a politically motivated attempt to intimidate him.
On Wednesday, April 9, operatives from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) allegedly stormed the residence of the MP, who also serves as the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee. Fordjour claims the raid was part of a broader effort to silence opposition voices.
The attempted operation was reportedly blocked by fellow members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who quickly intervened.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Fordjour accused the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration of targeting opposition MPs in an attempt to stifle parliamentary oversight.
“Thank you very much HE Dr Mahamudu Bawumia @MBawumia for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically-motivated lawless act of harassment in the attempt of the NDC government to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight,” he posted.
His comments reflect growing concerns over alleged political persecution as Ghana heads toward crucial national elections.
