President John Dramani Mahama has issued a strict ultimatum to all government appointees who have yet to comply with asset declaration laws, setting a final deadline of Wednesday, May 7, 2025, for compliance, after which they will be dismissed.
This directive underscores the President’s commitment to enforcing transparency and accountability within his administration. It follows a previous deadline of March 31, 2025, which a number of appointees failed to meet.
Addressing attendees at the launch of the Code of Conduct for government appointees in Accra on Monday, May 5, President Mahama emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that no one would be spared the consequences of non-compliance.
“If by close of day, Wednesday, 7th May 2025, any of you still fails to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise,” he declared.
In addition to the threat of dismissal, President Mahama also announced financial sanctions for those who failed to meet the initial March deadline. These defaulters will be required to forfeit three months’ salary, as well as make a mandatory one-month salary donation to the MahamaCares Fund. This decisive action by the President aims to ensure strict adherence to asset declaration laws and reinforce public trust in his government.
