MobileMoney LTD, the operator of MoMo from MTN Ghana, has firmly refuted recent social media rumors suggesting that its systems have been compromised by a cybersecurity incident. The company reassures all customers that its mobile money services remain safe, secure, and fully operational.
In response to circulating messages advising users to withdraw their funds, MobileMoney LTD clarified that these claims are not only false but may also be intentionally misleading. “We want to make it absolutely clear that no customer funds have been affected, and our systems have not been breached,” the company stated.
MobileMoney LTD emphasized that the MoMo platform is protected by state-of-the-art security technologies. These include end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication, and real-time monitoring systems designed to detect and prevent fraudulent activity. The company also highlighted its ongoing collaboration with regulatory bodies, cybersecurity experts, and partner institutions to maintain the highest levels of system integrity.
“We take the security of our platform and the protection of customer funds very seriously,” the statement continued. “MobileMoney LTD operates with stringent protocols and is constantly enhancing its cybersecurity posture.”
In addition to reassuring users, the company reminded customers to stay alert against fraud. Users are advised never to share sensitive information such as passwords, PINs, or one-time passwords (OTPs) through phone calls, messages, or emails.
MobileMoney LTD is urging the public to disregard unofficial reports and to rely only on its verified communication channels or those of MTN Ghana for accurate information. Customers who have concerns or require support can contact MTN’s customer care team by dialing 100, toll-free.
