A devastating incident has occurred in Aba, Abia State, where a shoemaker reportedly killed his wife and infant child in a violent act, allegedly fueled by economic hardship. His own body was found the following day.
The man, identified only as Udokwukwu from Onicha Ngwa in Obingwa Local Government Area, had been residing in Osisioma with his family. Neighbors reported that he had been increasingly distressed by financial difficulties, particularly his struggle to provide food for his family.
Tensions reportedly escalated when his wife, Mary, confronted him at his shop to request money for food. This encounter was allegedly perceived by him as disrespectful and compounded by suspicions of infidelity.
Later that night, Udokwukwu is said to have returned home with a container of fuel, which he allegedly poured around the apartment while his wife and baby were asleep. He then set the house ablaze, leading to their tragic deaths.
The next day, Udokwukwu’s lifeless body was discovered. Speculation suggests he may have been the victim of a retaliatory attack by enraged individuals following the killings.
Police have since moved the bodies to a local mortuary. As of the time of this report, the Abia State Police Command has not released an official statement on the incident.
