The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 30-year-old Aminu Amidu Mohammed for allegedly trafficking dangerous drugs and illegally possessing a firearm at his residence in Sabon Zongo, Accra.

His apprehension was made possible by a tip-off from a vigilant community watchdog group, which led to swift action by the Regional Intelligence Unit. During the operation, police discovered a stash of prescription-only drugs, including Gebedol and other opioids commonly known on the street as “Red.”

Speaking at a press briefing held on Monday, May 26, at the Regional Police Headquarters, DCOP Duuti Tuaruku confirmed that the suspect has already been arraigned before the court.

He urged citizens to remain involved and vigilant in the collective fight against crime.

“The Police commend the public for their support and announce the arrest and prosecution of a suspect involved in the possession and distribution of harmful drugs, as well as the illegal possession of a firearm,” DCOP Tuaruku stated.
