Ann Sansa Daly

The Minority in Parliament is calling on the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC) to clarify the medical credentials of Ann Sansa Daly, issuing a one-week ultimatum for a formal response.

This follows President John Dramani Mahama’s recent decision to revoke Sansa Daly’s appointment to the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) amid growing public scrutiny over her professional qualifications.

In a letter signed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, the Minority is urging the GMDC to verify Daly’s licensing status through direct engagement with relevant medical authorities in the United States.

The Minority is seeking answers to three key questions:

  1. Is Ann Sansa Daly currently registered and licensed by the GMDC to practise medicine in Ghana?
  2. Has she ever held any form of registration—temporary or permanent—with the GMDC?
  3. Do GMDC regulations permit individuals who are not registered to publicly present themselves as medical doctors or offer medical advice?

The Caucus emphasized that their request is in the public interest and is intended to safeguard professional standards and preserve public trust in Ghana’s healthcare system.
