The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has launched a formal investigation into the chaotic events that unfolded during the match between Nations FC and Basake Holy Stars.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, June 3, the GFA assured the public that it will address all matters arising from the incident both swiftly and decisively.
Heading into the penultimate round of the 2024–2025 Ghana Premier League season, Nations FC required just one win from their final two matches to secure the league title. However, tensions flared during their clash with Basake Holy Stars, which saw Nations FC trailing 1-0 in the first half following a successfully converted penalty.
The situation escalated after a second penalty was awarded to Basake Holy Stars, leading to intense protests by Nations FC players and officials. The game was ultimately abandoned by Nations FC during the first half.
With the controversy drawing widespread attention, the GFA has called on all involved parties to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
