The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has handed over 24 individuals to the police for prosecution due to various offenses committed during the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, the suspects were arrested for examination-related malpractices.
When asked about the outcome of the cases, Kapi stated that it would depend on the judge presiding over the matter.
Regarding the number of pregnant girls participating in the exams, Kapi said the figures were not readily available.
It’s worth noting that the Ghana Education Service has reported 21 pregnant girls and 17 lactating mothers participating in the BECE in the Upper East Region alone.
