Ghana’s Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the fate of eight BECE candidates who were barred from writing their English Language paper due to a road accident is currently under investigation.

Despite the circumstances that led to their tardiness, supervisors at the exam center allegedly refused to allow the students to enter the hall.

Minister Iddrisu described the situation as “deeply regrettable” and assured that the students’ future would not be jeopardized.

The Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) are reviewing the matter and will take remedial action.

The final decision on whether the students will be allowed to write a supplementary paper or offered an alternative will be made jointly by GES and WAEC.

Minister Iddrisu has received the list of affected candidates and is personally monitoring the situation.
