Charles Osei Akoto, Head of Technical for MTN’s Northern Business District, has commended 12 trainees for their outstanding performance during a mobile phone repair training program, held as part of the MTN Y’ello Care Month initiative. He praised their dedication, stating that their impressive demonstrations showed they had taken the training seriously.
The intensive three-week training took place in Nyinahin, located in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region. In addition to receiving certificates of completion, the trainees were also presented with essential tools to support their future work.
Mr. Osei Akoto noted that the participants demonstrated skills beyond basic repairs, even showing the ability to assemble mobile phones. He emphasized that mobile phone repair is a lifelong trade and urged the trainees to take their new skills seriously, as it can be a reliable source of livelihood. He further encouraged them to continue upgrading their knowledge, especially at a time when formal employment opportunities are declining due to advancements in artificial intelligence.
He also reminded the trainees not to let MTN down and expressed his hope that they would pass on the knowledge gained to others in their communities.
The training was facilitated by Abdul Karim Awudu, who praised the commitment of the trainees. He remarked that the three-week program was equivalent to a year’s worth of training and applauded MTN for their support, urging the company to expand the initiative to benefit more youth.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Charity Darko, Head of Corporate Affairs for MTN’s Northern Sector, congratulated both the trainees and the trainer. She encouraged the participants to collaborate, form partnerships, and share their experiences. She also reminded them that since the training was offered for free, they should extend the same generosity to others by teaching them without selfish motives.
The beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude to MTN for the opportunity and the valuable skills they gained, which they believe will significantly impact their lives.
