Manchester United have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko in a deal worth £73.7 million (€85 million).
The transfer includes a guaranteed fee of £66.3 million (€76.5 million), with the remaining sum structured as performance-based add-ons.
Sesko, 22, is expected to undergo a medical on Friday before completing his switch to Old Trafford. Standing at 6ft 5in, the powerful forward will bring a commanding physical presence to United’s attack.
The move marks another major investment by United in the summer transfer window, having already secured the services of forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined total of around £130 million.
These signings have been structured through favourable payment terms to maintain financial flexibility. Additionally, Marcus Rashford’s full £325,000-a-week wages are being paid by Barcelona during his loan spell, easing United’s wage bill.
The club also received a £5 million compensation fee from Chelsea after the Blues backed out of a deal to sign winger Jadon Sancho.
Meanwhile, Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho has been made available for transfer, with Chelsea showing strong interest. United are reportedly demanding around £50 million for the 20-year-old.
Striker Rasmus Hojlund, who scored just 14 Premier League goals across two seasons, has also been put up for sale and is valued at £40 million.
Sesko’s decision to join United deals another blow to Newcastle United, who previously lost out on Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool and now face the possibility of star striker Alexander Isak also heading to Anfield.
Sesko has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for RB Leipzig and is considered one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.
