The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially announced the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the Manhyia Palace.
The announcement was made during a solemn meeting of the Asanteman Council, attended by all paramount chiefs and representatives of the various clans. A one-week observance in her honour has been scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 98.
She was enstooled as Asantehemaa in 2017, succeeding her mother, the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died in 2016. Her formal outdooring took place during the 67th birthday celebration of her brother, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
The ceremony also included the commissioning of a newly renovated ceremonial park, named in honour of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. Situated opposite the Manhyia Museum, the park features an artificial turf and has since served as a venue for numerous royal and traditional events.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III was deeply respected for her leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the cultural preservation of the Asante Kingdom. Throughout her reign, she remained a vital source of support to the Asantehene and the traditional council.
