The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced that all first-year Senior High School (SHS) students across the country are to report to school on Saturday, 18th October 2025.
This directive forms part of the newly released 2025/2026 academic calendar. In a circular addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES stated that students in both Single Track and Transitional schools are expected to report on the specified date to begin their academic journey.
The letter, signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, included a detailed academic calendar outlining term dates, holidays, and special instructions to guide school operations throughout the year.
Regional Directors have been instructed to disseminate the calendar to all heads of second-cycle institutions within their jurisdictions. Heads of schools are expected to adhere strictly to the schedule to ensure nationwide consistency.
“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the statement read.
Copies of the circular have also been shared with key education stakeholders, including the GES Council, the Director-General of TVET, WAEC, and the Free SHS Secretariat at the Ministry of Education.
