Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has extended a warm invitation to the public for the upcoming third edition of the Tariq Lamptey Under-15 Cup, a promising initiative by the Tariq Lamptey Foundation dedicated to spotlighting young talents in Ghana.
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the McDan Astro Turf La Town Park from 7 am to 6 pm.
In his open plea, the Brighton and Hove Albion defender emphasised the importance of community support, saying, “Join us on the 23rd of December at the McDan Astro Turf Park as the boys participate in the Tariq Lamptey Cup. It’s going to be an amazing day of football and fun, so come down and share your support.”
Lamptey expressed optimism about this year’s event, stating, “Last year was amazing. I think this year is going to be even better.” He highlighted the addition of educational screenings, dental check-ups, and other health checkups facilitated by doctors. The event aims to provide holistic support, not just in sports but also in the overall well-being of the young participants.
Acknowledging the importance of family engagement, Lamptey mentioned various fun activities for children, including bouncy castles and face painting. He added, “The main thing that gives me joy is to see the kids enjoy themselves.”
The 23-year-old, who recently switched nationalities from England to Ghana, has been a key player for the Black Stars.
Despite injuries affecting his recent participation, Lamptey is expected to be fit to represent Ghana as they prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, kicking off in 29 days.
The Tariq Lamptey Under-15 Cup not only showcases football talent but also serves as a platform for community engagement and support.
