Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton says he expects Mohammed Kudus to join up with his national teammates in a few days due to a slight knock.
Having already been dealt a blow with the unavailability of Thomas Partey for the upcoming AFCON due to injury, Hughton would have been more than a bit concerned about Kudus injury.
However, the Gaffer is hopeful the West Ham star will recover in time to link-up with the rest of the squad before the tournament starts in a fortnight.
“We are expecting [Mohammed Kudus] to join the group hopefully in a few days. He has a very slight injury issue that need to be dealt with before he joins camp but we’re hopeful,” he told journalists after naming his 27-man squad for the 2023 AFCON.
Kudus has been in fine form for West Ham this season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions for the Hammers.
He’s also become one of Ghana’s most important players netting three times in the AFCON qualifiers.
He was also named in CAF’s best eleven of the year.
Alongside Kudus, Joseph Paintsil, Osman Bukari, Ernest Nuamah and Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer have been named as Ghana’s options out wide for the tournament.
This year’s AFCON kicks off on January 13 with hosts, Ivory Coast facing Guinea Bissau.
The Black Stars kick off their campaign the next day against Cape Verde.
