The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko has dismissed rumours suggesting the imminent dismissal of coach Prosper Narteh Ogum following a string of poor results.

Despite leading the Porcupine Warriors to victory in the Ghana Premier League title during the 2021/22 season, Ogum has encountered challenges in his second stint with the team.

Following a third-place finish at the end of the first round, Kotoko’s performance has declined dramatically, with five losses in six matches during the second half of the season, matching their poorest-ever run in 14 years.

Amidst concerns from fans and stakeholders, reports surfaced indicating that Ogum had a three-match ultimatum to turn things around or face dismissal. However, the IMC released a statement on Wednesday refuting these claims.

“Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum remains at post, contrary to speculations about his imminent dismissal,” the statement affirmed.

While acknowledging the club’s disappointing results, the IMC assured fans that steps were being taken to address the situation, including holding an emergency meeting with the coaching staff. However, they emphasised that these discussions did not involve the dismissal of the head coach.

“In our quest to achieve this, various steps have been taken, including an emergency meeting with the coaching staff and not the dismissal of the head coach,” the statement clarified.

With pressure mounting, Ogum is determined to stage a comeback as Kotoko faces Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 3:00 pm.
