Inflation rate for April 2024 drops to 25.0%, representing a 0.8 percentage point decrease from March’s inflation rate of 25.8%.
According to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), food inflation recorded 26.8% and non-food inflation saw a decrease from 29.6% to 26.8% for April 2024.
Giving a regional breakdown of the inflation by the Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Anim, the Upper East Region recorded the highest of inflation of 42.5% with Oti Region recording the lowest inflation rate of 11.3% for April 2024.
Locally produced items recorded an inflation rate of 25.7% while imported items also recorded an inflation rate 23.5%.
Month-on-month inflation saw an increase in inflation from 0.8% as recorded in March 2024 to 1.8% for April 2024, indicating a 1.0 percentage increase.
