Get ready for a new chapter in women’s club football! FIFA has officially confirmed the launch of the Women’s Club World Cup, set to kick off in January and February of 2026.
This prestigious tournament will feature 16 teams and take place every four years. The schedule falls strategically within the European domestic season, situated between the group stages and knockout rounds of the Women’s Champions League.
The announcement comes after FIFA’s initial proposal in December 2022 to establish a global women’s club competition. The plans were solidified during a FIFA congress held on Wednesday in Bangkok.
Current champions across various leagues are gearing up for this exciting new competition. Barcelona holds the title in Europe, NY Gotham FC reigns supreme in the NWSL, and Corinthians from Brazil are the Copa Libertadores Femenina champions.
