Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has promised to promote peace during the upcoming December elections.
Speaking at the funeral of former Minister of Information, John Tia Akologo in the Upper East Region, Mahama urged religious leaders to emphasize both peace and justice, which he believes are essential for a peaceful electoral process.
Mahama assured the audience that the NDC is committed to a violence-free election, saying, “We expect a peaceful election because we are confident in our chances of winning.” He added that the party will resist any attempts at electoral manipulation and work towards a free, fair, and transparent process.
While emphasizing the importance of peace, Mahama also stressed the need for justice, stating, “When there is no justice, there can be no peace.” He expressed his hope that God will guide the country through its current challenges.
