Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stressed the importance of free, fair, and credible elections in Ghana.
Speaking at a gathering of chiefs and community members in Axim, Western Region, she emphasized that peaceful elections are crucial for maintaining national harmony.
Opoku-Agyemang urged leaders to prioritize peace and development, particularly in the lead-up to the December elections.
She expressed hope that Ghanaians would elect leaders who prioritize servant leadership and serve the people’s interests.
During her address, Opoku-Agyemang endorsed Hon. Kofi Arkoe Nokoe, the current Member of Parliament for Axim, and encouraged the community to re-elect him.
She highlighted the NDC’s past achievements in Axim, including the Axim Sea Defense Project and road asphalting.
Opoku-Agyemang also promised to revive the original plan for the Axim mini harbour project, which was altered to a landing beach.
She assured the community that the next NDC government would not tolerate illegal mining and would not appoint individuals involved in galamsey.
The running mate commended the chiefs for their unity and vision in promoting development and called for continued unity, tolerance, and peace among the people of Axim.
She concluded by urging the youth to abstain from violence and assured Ghanaians that the NDC is committed to peaceful elections, calling on chiefs to ensure the Electoral Commission upholds fairness.
