AC Milan have expressed interest in signing Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, with the Serie A club eyeing an initial loan move for the Denmark international.
Just over a week ago, Højlund publicly reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester United following a goal in a 4-1 pre-season win over Bournemouth in Chicago. Speaking to journalists, the 23-year-old emphasized his desire to fight for his place under new manager Rúben Amorim, despite the arrival of fresh competition.
That competition has since intensified, with United reaching an agreement to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig. Šeško is expected to be unveiled at Old Trafford ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Fiorentina.
With United now open to offers for Højlund, several clubs have reportedly shown interest. AC Milan are believed to be one of the frontrunners, though they are seeking a loan deal due to financial constraints tied to their absence from European competition.
Sources indicate Milan are prepared to offer €4 million (£3.47m) as a loan fee, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer for €40 million (£34.7m).
Whether that offer will be acceptable to United remains uncertain, though further developments are expected in the coming days.
Milan kick off their Serie A season against Cremonese on 23 August.
