Traders affected by the recent Adum PZ market fire in Kumasi have refused food donations from Interior Minister and Asawase MP Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, expressing their urgent need for support to rebuild their livelihoods.
Muntaka arrived at the scene with a large donation of rice and cooking oil following the March 21st fire that destroyed numerous shops.
However, the victims rejected the supplies, stating that their priority is the reconstruction of the market.
In circulating videos, traders can be heard jeering at the Minister and his team, demanding concrete action to restore the fire-damaged area so they can resume their businesses.
They also voiced concerns about potential eviction.
While asserting his intentions, Muntaka acknowledged the significant economic impact of recurring market fires and pledged to support the victims’ recovery, emphasizing the need for practical solutions to prevent future incidents.
