Property destroyed at the stadium

Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the Baba Yara Stadium came to a shocking end on Thursday as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The loss sparked outrage and frustration among Ghanaian fans, who witnessed their team struggle on a subpar pitch.

Angola’s Felicio Milson scored the decisive goal in added time, securing his team’s first victory in Group F, which also includes Sudan and Niger.

In another Group F match, Sudan defeated Niger 1-0.

The final whistle triggered chaotic scenes at the Baba Yara Stadium, with fans hurling plastic bottles and breaching the stadium’s perimeter, causing damage to the wooden pitch panels.

Earlier in the match, a section of the stadium’s fencing had been breached, allowing fans to force entry.

Ghana will now face Niger on Monday, September 9, in Morocco at 3:00 PM GMT.
