Holders Manchester United have been drawn to face Arsenal, the 14-time FA Cup winners, in a highly anticipated third-round clash.
Premier League leaders Liverpool will play host to League Two’s Accrington Stanley, while Manchester City welcome Salford City, owned by the iconic ‘Class of 92’ players.
Non-league Tamworth, one of the last two remaining teams outside the top four tiers, will play at home against Tottenham Hotspur, who are managed by Ange Postecoglou.
The third-round matches will take place during the weekend of Saturday, 11 January.
This round marks the entry of 44 Premier League and Championship teams into the competition, joining the 20 lower-league and non-league sides that made it through from last weekend’s second-round ties.
The draw was met with audible groans from the supporters at Old Trafford as Manchester United, who claimed a 13th FA Cup victory in May by defeating Manchester City, were confirmed as Arsenal’s opponents.
Salford City, owned by former Manchester United legends Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, and David Beckham, will also be looking to make their mark in the tournament.
Tamworth, after their penalty shootout victory over League One’s Burton Albion, will host Tottenham, while fellow National League side Dagenham & Redbridge travel to Championship side Millwall.
In another intriguing tie, Everton’s 39-year-old full-back Ashley Young could potentially face his 18-year-old son, Tyler, as Everton will meet Peterborough at home. Young shared his excitement on X, saying, “Wow… dreams might come true.”
Elsewhere, Chelsea will host League Two’s bottom team Morecambe, while fellow fourth-tier side Bromley will visit Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
